Black & White

"These images reveal a passion for that particular moment, the one few can see." — Neal Parent, (Focused on the Coast)

I’m most affected by portraits that include a subject’s environment, that place where he feels most connected and alive, and, whenever possible, that moment when he is doing what he loves, exemplified in these three images.

Man and Horse was offered to me on a typical Vermont morning, an instant in time that has been my most beloved image ever since, and blessed with numerous awards and critical acclaim.

I shot a series of the disappearing life of traditional fishermen and Daybreak and Father and Son were two that particularly struck me, the thankfulness of the hunched figure against the heavenly rays and clouds, and the stoic presence of the father and son as they ply their nets before an approaching storm. These, too, have received numerous awards.
